You know our public transport isn’t accessible, but does your MP? Take action here!

We know that people all over Victoria are beyond frustrated with the barriers they face accessing public transport every day - including people with disabilities, our seniors, people with injuries or other physical requirements.

We know that people all over Victoria are beyond frustrated with the barriers they face accessing public transport every day - including people with disabilities, our seniors, people with injuries or other physical requirements.

And Victoria is way behind on implementing the Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002, which state that all public transport should be 100% accessible by the end of 2022.

But recently, we’ve heard that the Department of Transport has expressed the view that when it comes to accessibility, our Victorian public transport system is “not that bad”.

And how has this view been reached? Because there are very few complaints. As a result, at each state budget the government only commits a piecemeal contribution to accessibility upgrades. Because that is all our government thinks we need.

Together, we can ensure that local MP’s across Victoria are hearing complaints from the community about inaccessible public transport.

We need every MP in Victoria to understand our issues, because this has been ignored for too long. We need to see a commitment in the upcoming Victorian state budget that will achieve a great leap forward across the state in terms of accessible transport.

If you know public transport is unreliable, or inaccessible - trams, trains, buses, cabs - please, please write to your MP now and let them know.
